What is IDScan.net’s DVS?
The Document Verification Service (DVS) provides the following features to client applications that integrate with it
- the ability to handle many document types including
- State Driver's Licenses
- State Identification Cards
- Passports (Both US and International)
- US Passport Cards
- US Green Cards
- Common Access Cards (CAC)
- International Documents
- the ability to parse the data contained inside of a document's PDF417 barcode / Machine Readable Zone (MRZ)
- the ability to read via OCR the data contained on the front side of a document
- verification that the person providing the document is the document's actual owner
- validation of state-specific security features of a Driver's License
- protection against a user spoofing the submitted selfie image
- protection against the submission of fraudulent documents
- additional verification checks made against third-party databases to help determine the validity of the document
These powerful features are made possible by comparing the fields contained in the PDF417 barcode / Machine Readable Zone (MRZ) on the back of a document with the data read via an OCR read of the front side of a document. DVS also compares the image on the front side of a document with the selfie taken by the user and will indicate how well they match. From this collection of up to three images sent to DVS a document’s general level of trustability can be calculated and returned to the client application.
